Jhoan Muy 04/02/19 Today at the Armory Track, my Web Design class and I went and attended the annual fair, at this fair there was a mix of companies and colleges out there which explained there computer science programs and some even had their own products/prototypes to test. There was various schools all enjoying the fair which had companies and students present their work in the computer science field, such as some students in my web design academy. I went around and I talked and got information over what exactly those businesses do as well as advice for the future. I was able to try out a virtual reality realm which was awesome. It was my first time at the CS Fair and I'm sure I'd like to go next year there was prizes a bunch of activities a lot to do there. Overall a good field trip in which I was able to meet a CTE requirement and enjoy the fair and learn throughout the day.

Wireframe Jhoan Alexander 06.08.20 Link to Webpage      In my Web Client Programming class we were instructed to construct our "Final Portfolio Website", this website will in the centerpiece of all our work, this would be constructed with some regulations to what should be included for example, a navigation bar to previous sites, professional social media platforms, etc. but the majority of the website would be constructed to our liking. Before beginning to construct my website I first made a wireframe to how potentially my website would look like, I went with dark colors because I liked how my previous website looked like when I used dark colors, I also made the layout, I configured where each object in my website should go to have a good appeal to the user. Jhoan Alexander 06.08.20 My Wireframe Link to Project      In my Web Client Programming class we were assigned a "Spring Project". Our project required 20 webpages with citations and on any topic of our liking. I decided to make my project on the boroughs of New York City - Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, and Staten Island. But before constructing my project I needed a wireframe, this would allow me to follow an outline for my project, in my wireframe I was able to decide my color schemes for the entirety of the project. My wireframe also deciphered what each individual webpage would consist of, I made it homepage, history page, edifices page, tourist sites page, and a recommendation page based on my knowledge of the borough. The constructing of the website was troubling at points such as when I was making the slideshow at the homepage, I also faced issues with positioning of my objects the most eminent being the title. WBL workshop #4 involved our career path and college major. This is a huge part of our future finding our path into adulthood and our potential career. We did this through using Virtual Job Shadow, an online platform used for students to find careers of their interest, we are first asked an abundance of questions and then our answers are calculated into groups. We were grouped based on suitability of 6 different categories, artistic, conventional, enterprising, investigative, realistic, and social. My results said I fit in enterprising which I believe I do. Jobs in this field included entrepreneurs which I believe I will become in the future. Overall a great workshop, I was able to learn a bit more about myself and my future to come.

Jhoan Alexander Web Client Programming WBL Workshop #4 - Resumes The fourth WBL workshop dealt with constructing our resumes. Your resume in a way is a method used in advertising yourself. Your resume dictates whether you are or are not a candidate for a certain job, resumes are highly important and used by the majority of employers. In your resume it is best you are honest with your abilities, you do not want to be lying to your possible employers and are exhorted to be your true self. Resumes carry information regarding your educational history, work history, skills, and personal information and this includes phone number, email. Address, etc. My first experience in making a resume was nothing difficult, expressing yourself in one page rather than multiple is not difficult as it may seem, the only difficult part is being concise making everything fit neatly and efficiently.  Good resumes must have a neat layout which an employer can be able to read with ease and learn ...

Jhoan Alexander 05/15/19 This past week Junior Achievement streamed a career panel discussion for students like me at Information Technology High School. The stream was very informative and very insightful. I gained a little more background on the working field and the journey there. The part of the stream I enjoyed the most involved Preet's insightful talk on college and advice to seniors like I, Preet spoke about the journey throughout college such as new experience - traveling to adulthood. This stream was very beneficial, presenters were very knowledgable and they even motivated us during adversity. Overall a very insightful and motivating stream.

Jhoan Alexander WBL Requirement 04/17/20 This week an online session took place, speaker Carol Kate speaks on her experience working in the TV and film industry. Carol Kate spoke on her upbringing and how she transitioned from jobs to jobs and eventually reaching the infamous Nickelodeon. She spoke on the big shot companies stressing environment and overload of work, she spoke on how she eventually left and expressed how ones impulse decisions can be terrible. Though this session gravitated more towards the students video production I still gained new insight on another working field, Carol's story was intriguing and with her advice it was very motivating to say the least This session was overall very motivating.

Jhoan Alexander Web Client Programming 04/20/20 On the 14th of this month, Web Design alumni and I partook in an event labeled CTE/CS day. In this event 4 guest speakers from the Nuevo Foundation hosted a webinar in which they shared their experiences on all sorts of topics. Alyda was one guest speaker who spoke on her occupation which is product design which was very intriguing she also spoke on her college process, Madeleyne was another speaker and she also spoke on firmware and how firmware became her calling. The most appealing speaker was Eduardo, he was amusing to hear because our similar humor, he spoke on video game design and technical principals in all a variety of topics, such as photoshop and video editing.  In this webinar I gained insight on a variety of fields, insight that I can apply to my daily life because technology is a gateway and will continue being one. Jhoan Alexander Web Client Programming 03/11/20 Both Web Design and Video Production academies in Information Technology HS conduct yearly community service with JA. Junior Achievements (JA) is an organization that educates young students skills in the real world. In order to properly prepare for our community service event we needed to learn our lessons, lessons which we would then proceed to teach alumni. We were sorted into groups and given a week to prepare for our lesson. My group members and I worked collaborated in making our lessons the most entertaining because we would need to teach 4th graders. We prepared with the tools JA gave us and it was then game day. We arrived at PS. 49, we were escorted to our classroom where we then conducted our lessons. The students were very different than lat years group of alumni and were very intrigued by the lesson. Jhoan Alexander Web Client Programming 03/11/20 Project 5 (Credit Score App) was conducted in class. The purpose for the app was to estimate an individuals potential credit score. I made this app using a series of questions which ranged from one's age to their income. The questions and answers would formulate with an onEvent. In order to make my app fully functioning I used onEvent code, this meant for all the possibilities I needed to create an algorithm. This indeed was a long process but and the not the most ideal but it is what I did - I had not used javascript in months was a bit rusty. This app was a great way for me to get back into coding with javascript. The app was a success I was able to make it fully functioning with just onEvents. I was intrigued by this project it by far has been different than our usual making webpages, I enjoyed it immensely and as a future web designer this project is pathing a way for me to get accustom to using javascript once again

Jhoan Alexander 02/09/20 What I presented at the CTE Expo This past Friday, Information Technology High School held their CTE Expo.  A CTE Expo is a gathering of student work to be presented to freshman alumni who may be interested in joining the CTE academy. During the CTE Expo we provided alumni with intel on the academy. This year was different than the previous year, we created a web portfolio not a game like the year prior. The website had to have a fully functioning navigation bar allowing us to demonstrate previous years work and information about us and what we do. I was able to speak to teachers during this event and freshman alumni who were shy of course but I tried my hardest in making them feel as if we were just friends having a normal conversation. And all worked out well, freshman's understood an adequate amount of what the Web Design academy was, they asked questions and when I asked if they were willing to join they all replied “yes”. Jhoan Alexander WCP Reflection This lab was made with a Javascript 30 tutorial. JavaScript 30 is an online resource website which supplies alumni with Javascript tutorials. In this lab it required HTML, CSS and Javascript.  In this lab, we constructed the highlighted text seem like it was your ghost by following you by highlighting linked words in the text. We did this by making a constant using a querySelector that would select all the a tags. The text in these a tags would then be highlighted. We then made a constant that would highlight this text when hovered upon, which was then implemented into a function. This function would set the style in which the text was highlighted. Finally, we set a trigger that would sense when the mouse hovered over the text. Overall an intriguing lab which I as a webs designer will use in my future website as it is great at helping with navigation bars.

Jhoan Alexander WCP Reflection This lab was made with a Javascript 30 tutorial. JavaScript 30 is an online resource website which supplies alumni with Javascript tutorials. In this lab it required HTML, CSS and Javascript.  In this lab we created a compass which would point to whatever direction you were facing in, and the speed at which somebody is going. We did this by making separate constants for both the speed and direction. After that, we used  navigator.geolocation.watchPosition to sense the speed at which someone was going. To rotate the arrow of the compass, we accessed the css through javascript based on the direction that the person is pointing to using  arrow.style.transform = `rotate(${data.coords.heading}deg). This lab was constructed with a tutorial, I didn't face much issues as they were resolved through looking at the video and finding my error. Overall a great lab and now I'll never get lost, all I have to do is open my lab 34.

Jhoan Alexander WCP Reflection This lab was made with a Javascript 30 tutorial. JavaScript 30 is an online resource website which supplies alumni with Javascript tutorials. In this lab it required HTML, CSS and Javascript.   In this lab we constructed a speech detection device that would write in the provided space anything you were saying even some foul language. We did this by using the recognition element to be able to detect speech. We then created a constant containing the p tag in which the text was typed on to. The speech that was detected would be put on to there. This lab was constructed with the use of a Javascript tutorial, I didn't face any problems because the video was there guiding me with the code and how they work. Overall a interesting lab now I know how Siri is able to compute what I say to her on the daily.

Jhoan Alexander WCP Reflection This lab was made with a Javascript 30 tutorial. JavaScript 30 is an online resource website which supplies alumni with Javascript tutorials. In this lab it required HTML, CSS and Javascript  In this lab we had to create a photo booth using javascript. We also had to add effects to the camera, and be able to take a picture and display it at the bottom. We did this by adding out video tag into a constant using querySelector. We then used  navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia in order to obtain the user's webcam access. Then we made another function that would that would paint certain colors onto the area where the webcam feed was displayed. In order to take a photo, we made a new function using the snap element, and also added where the image would be placed. Overall a simple lab with the help of Javascript 30 by providing an in-depth tutorial.

Jhoan Alexander WCP Reflection This lab was made with a Javascript 30 tutorial. JavaScript 30 is an online resource website which supplies alumni with Javascript tutorials. In this lab it required HTML, CSS and Javascript. In this lab, we had to add up the length of all the videos in a list and display it on the console log. We did this by adding a data-time attribute to the li tags containing a certain amount of time. Then using querySelector, we selected all the data-time attributes and placed them in a constant. We then made separate constants for the hours and minutes. In these constants the total hours and minutes would be calculate and would then be displayed on the console log. We did this using javascript. Overall an easy lab with the use of the tutorial by side.

Jhoan Alexander WCP Reflection This lab was made with a Javascript 30 tutorial. JavaScript 30 is an online resource website which supplies alumni with Javascript tutorials. In this lab it required HTML, CSS and Javascript. This lab required the use of Javascript to make a table displaying my favorite bands. With just a <ul> tag I was able to make this table. This could have been constructed with just plain HTML and a bit of CSS but also with Javascript and that is what I did. It just included an array which was preset so like Jack boys it was already in the array it just needed to be displayed. Overall an intriguing and questionable lab should it have been done with Javascript?

Jhoan Alexander WCP Reflection This lab was made with a Javascript 30 tutorial. JavaScript 30 is an online resource website which supplies alumni with Javascript tutorials. In this lab it required HTML, CSS and Javascript. In this lab we made a shadow appear through a function with X and Y being the mouse position. This lab had a tutorial which I used to construct this lab. It was a fairly easy lab the Javascript was just 15 lines of code with one function displaying the shadow of the text at different positions when X and Y was moved. Overall a fairly simple and intriguing lab to do.
